Two separate incidents at Walk the Wight required the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance and the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance to attend two seperate locations en-route.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance attended an emergency at Brook, way up on the Downs together with an ambulance and 4×4 ambulance vehicle.
Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance landed near the Old Battery site on Tennyson Down close to The Needles to attend to another walker. Update 15:20: The helicopter has now left the scene to fly the patient directly to the Royal Bournemouth Hospital.
The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has also departed from the scene at Brook.
A spokesperson for Mountbatten said: “We are aware of two ongoing separate incidents — one at Brook and one at Highdown — where the assistance of the emergency services has been called on.
“We are grateful for the assistance of everyone involved including event staff and members of the public.
“With over 8,000 walkers, Walk the Wight is well underway and is continuing as normal. Further updates to follow.”
